a Lot of Problems

Our current election system: voters put their ballots in an opaque box and never see them again. Ballots are counted behind locked doors by unknown election officials. Voters are told to "trust the experts" in spite of frequent scandals. Results often change and are not final for weeks. Read more about the problems.

The Method

Imagine a hand count method where everything is double-checked - at least - in every step of the process.

Step 1: Batching - divide the ballots into groups (batches) of 25 or less, and check.

Step 2: Tallying - record the votes from the batch on a pair of tally sheets, and check.

Step 3: Aggregating - record the totals from the tally sheets on a pair of aggregation sheets, and check.

Step 4: Post the results!

 

Speed it up wherever needed - the process is easily scalable by adding more teams!
